Infrastructure Engineer
Role Overview:
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our VMware environments, storage appliances and other supporting systems. You will work closely with our DevOps team to integrate these systems with our CI/CD pipelines, leveraging DevOps and GitOps principles to ensure our infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
VMware Management:
- Deploy, configure and manage VMware environments.
- Monitor and optimize virtual machines & hypervisors for performance and resource utilization.
- Implement and maintain VMware best practices and security protocols.
VM Management:
- Ensure that all nodes are running latest security patches & firmware.
- Conduct frequent vulnerability scanning and rectification on all nodes running both Linux and Windows.
- Deploy and administer Virtual Machines (both Windows and Linux subsystems) keeping best practices in mind.
Storage Management:
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot storage appliances (e.g., SAN, NAS, Dedup appliances).
- Configure and manage HCI / SDS systems (Ceph/Minio/vSAN).
- Ensure data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery processes are in place.
- Perform regular DR activities.
- Optimize storage performance and capacity planning.
Networking:
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues concerning to the domain.
- Ensure node security and compliance with industry standards.
DevOps/GitOps Integration:
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to integrate infrastructure management into CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or equivalent.
- Leverage GitOps principles to manage infrastructure changes via version control.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Document infrastructure processes and configurations
Experience:
- Proven experience in managing VMware environments.
- Hands-on experience with storage appliances (e.g., SAN, NAS, Deduplication appliances).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent documentation and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge in VMware (VCP level.), expierence on other virtualization systems would be nice (KVM,Proxmox,Nutanix, etc)
- Good knowledge on networking (CCNA level).
- Hands on expierence in using backup Software such as Veeam Backup and Replication/Data Protector.
- Good knowledge with Linux prefereably holding an active LPIC-1 or similar.
- Good knowledge with monitoring systems including Librenms/Cacti & Prometheus/Grafana stack.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
